Mcintire Park Golf Course is a Public, 9 hole golf course located in Charlottesville, Virginia,
Charlottesville Municipal Golf Course, now known as McIntire Golf Course, opened to the public May 18, 1938.
This executive course is not very difficult. There are no sand bunkers, water hazards, or waste bunkers on the course, but there are many tree-lined fairways. The only feature that makes this course difficult is the rolling terrain it was built on. The greens are small sand greens. Ladies tee off from the same set of tees as the men.
Par for the course is 33. From the back tees, the course plays to 2,070 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 7, a par-4 that plays to 370 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 5, a par-3 that plays to 70 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 7, the 370-yard par-4 challenge is the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at McIntire Park Golf Course is # 8, a 280 yard par-4.
The course closed May 31, 2015
The approximately 80-year-old course, which cost city residents just $2 and non-residents $3 for all-day play, will be closed to make way for other park projects, such as the McIntire Botanical Garden and enhanced pedestrian and bike traffic access.
